Speech Therapy
Improving Children’s
Communication Skills
Children with speech and language challenges have difficulty in one or more areas of communication. These difficulties may affect their ability to develop relationships, progress academically, understand others’ ideas and share their thoughts.
At Lampert’s Therapy Group we provide comprehensive evaluations to assess all areas of your child’s communication skills. Evaluations are centered around the specific needs of your child to identify their strengths and areas of need.
Treatment sessions are individualized, often play-based, and driven based on goals written through the identified areas of need. Parent involvement is encouraged and home programs and education is provided in order to ensure carry-over into your child’s natural environments.
Receptive and expressive language – the ability to understand and use language to communicate.
Articulation – using the structures and muscles of the oral mechanism to accurately project the sounds required
Voice -using appropriate pitch, volume, and intonation
Fluency – the ability to connect sounds, syllables, and words together smoothly
Pediatric Speech-language pathologists are professionals who hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), which requires a master’s, doctoral, or other recognized post baccalaureate degree. ASHA-certified SLPs complete a supervised postgraduate professional experience and pass a national examination. Pediatric Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
At Lampert’s Therapy Group our pediatric speech therapists work as team with our occupational therapists, physical therapists, and behavior analysts to ensure that communication skills are practiced in each discipline.
Therapy is contingent upon the results of the evaluation. This may result in therapy being recommended on a weekly or biweekly schedule.
